Ingredients
This tea is made from the dried leaves of a South American plant. It has a bold, earthy flavor and naturally contains caffeine.
Brewing Method
To brew:
-
Bring water to about 170°F, just under a boil. Boiling water can make the tea bitter.
-
Place 1-2 tablespoons of loose leaves in a French press or tea ball infuser. If using bags, use one per cup of water.
-
Moisten the leaves with room temperature water first. This helps extract more flavor.
-
Add 8 ounces of hot water per 1-2 tablespoons of leaves. Allow to steep 3-5 minutes.
-
Press and pour the tea, then enjoy as is or flavor with honey, lemon, mint or fruit as desired.
You can also brew the South American tea in a tea pot instead of a French press. Simply place the loose leaves or bag in the pot, pour hot water over top, let steep 3-5 minutes, then pour into your cup through the pot’s strainer.
